Data that is stored
Cobrowse stores the following data as part of its hosted cloud solutions for the sole purpose of providing the service. You will also store this information if you self-host.
Agent data can include:
- IP address (optional)
- Browser’s user agent
- Agent Name/Surname
- Agent Email address
End-user data can include:
- IP address (optional)
- Browser’s user agent
- Additional metadata (optional) that you provide explicitly and directly to Cobrowse to tag and identify end-user devices as part of your use of the software. This is the custom data you provide if you use the option to identify your devices: https://docs.cobrowse.io/sdk-features/identify-your-devices
Session recordings (optional feature) can include:
- Video recording of the end-user session, excluding any redacted elements
- Audit log of agent actions (such as elements clicked, text entered)
Data retention period
The retention period for each set of data is:
-
Session recordings (if enabled) for 7 days, this includes the information listed here: Session recordings
-
Device metadata (for device registration, if enabled) for 30 days. See End-user data in the previous section
-
Session metadata for 1 year, this includes the device metadata (regardless of whether device registration is enabled or not) as well as the information listed here: Session metadata
-
Account-level audit log for 3 years, this includes the Agent data above for Administrator users when they take account-level actions such as changing settings
If you self-host the software then the schedule above still applies as it is set programmatically.
Custom retention periods
You have the option to download the Session recordings and metadata programmatically to your own storage location. This allows you to keep this data for your own retention period.
